How do I enter an event?
You can book an event online 24/7, and pay by card, paypal, applepay and more.
How much does it cost to enter an event?
If this is your very first time, and you have never raced anywhere before, your first 2 race meetings at Adur will be free of charge.
Otherwise members of the club pay £6 for an adult, and £4 for a junior, and non members/guests pay £10 for an adult and £5 for a junior.
Do I have to be a member of the club to race?
No, but you do need to be a member of the British Radio Car Association (BRCA) to race regularly. Any BRCA member can race at the club but not score championship points in closed to club championships. Some of our championships are "open" meaning anyone can enter and score points.
BRCA membership is essential because it provides the required insurance cover. The BRCA allows you to race three times at a club before joining the BRCA. If you have never raced anywhere before, then your first 2 race meetings at Adur Model Car Club are free.
How many races count towards the club championship?
In any given year, we will try and divide the summer months evenly between the oval, offroad and circuit sections. This normally results in 10 championship rounds each.
The number of rounds to count is then set by the section representative(s), but is normally half of the total rounds plus one. For instance, in 2016, we had 13 championship rounds. Half of 13 is 6.5, plus 1 is 7.5, so in this instance we round down to 7. So the scoring rounds are the best 7 from 13 meetings. If the number of meetings has to be reduced for any reason, bad weather, or other unforeseen circumstances, then the number of scoring rounds is also normally reduced.

What happens if it rains?
If it rains on the day of the race meeting then the meeting will continue on the wet until the Race Director deems it pointless to continue. If the track is wet then we would recommend that you waterproof you car to stop the electrics blowing up, if you are not able to do so it is advisable not to race until the track dries. In the event of the meeting being cancelled you will be informed on the day if it is to be re-run at a later date of if the results at that point in the meeting will be taken as final. It would normally take extremes of weather to call of any meeting, however the oval and offroad sections would like a special mention of their hardiness and ability to race in all weather conditions.
What championship classes do you run?
At the beginning of the summer and winter seasons, the committee try and guess what drivers will be racing in the coming months on each of the tracks. We can then set up the championship classes on the computer and website.
In some cases this is easy, because the cars and options available are relatively settled. In other cases, where there is a wide variety of choice, we have to make a best guess.
This means that we may have a published championship running with only 2 or 3 drivers competing, or alternatively, many drivers competing in a class which we have not "officially" sanctioned as a championship class.
The club have decided to be flexible in this respect, across all of our tracks. By flexible, we mean that some championship classes which we set out to run in any given year, may not finish the year with trophies or entry into the "hall of fame", but some other classes, where participation is high, may be added as a championship class mid-year.
We need some guidelines for the championships:
- We will calculate points for all competing classes in the course of a championship.
- A championship would "become valid" if 4 or more drivers have completed the qualifying number of rounds. e.g. if the championship is the best 5 of 8 rounds, then at least 4 drivers must all have completed 5 rounds for it to be a "proper" championship, and have trophies awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
- If there are less than 4 drivers having completed the minimum number of qualifying rounds, then we recognise that sometimes there will be hard fought championships between two or three drivers, with many other drivers not having completed the full number of qualifying rounds.
- These constitute grey areas and will need to be reviewed on a case by case basis.
- We do not want to make a hard and fast rule which could be considered unfair.
It will be possible for the championship winner to receive honors in some of these cases, at the discretion of the race directors for the section, and the club committee.
So to summarise. We run championships for the types of car which regularly turn up and race in sufficient numbers.
