On Road Classes Raced at Adur RC
Adur RC caters for a range of on-road classes, from high-powered 1/8th scale machines to agile and highly competitive 1/10th scale Touring and GT cars. Whether you're an experienced racer looking for a new club or completely new to RC racing, you'll find a friendly and competitive atmosphere with classes to suit all skill levels.
We're also working with local model shops to help make getting started in RC racing as simple as possible for newcomers, so if you're unsure where to begin, just ask and we'll be happy to help.
Run what you brung
Before we breakdown all the different classes of cars that we race on our outdoor circuit, we do also offer a ‘run what you brung’ so that anyone can come down and experience what an RC race day is like whilst getting the opportunity to see how well you can control your own RC car around our track within a 5-minute session. We generally restrict car size to 1/8th scale due to the width of our racetrack.
1/8th Leman Prototype Cars
The largest and most powerful class regularly raced at Adur RC. Powered by either a 3.5cc nitro engine, or more popular now is a low turn brushless electric motor. These cars deliver a visceral and energetic experience, delivering blistering high speeds and razor-sharp fighter jet style handling.
Best suited for: Experienced Racers who enjoy a challenge of piloting such a machine with countless chassis setup options and the immense grip from 64mm wide Foam tyres.
Rules: 8th On Road Rules

1/10th Electric Touring Car 17.5 Blinky TC
This is where you will find most of our club members, think BTCC but smaller cars and that’s pretty much what you will see. Cars that use Carbon fibre and Titanium like its going out of fashion to gain every tenth of a second.
To keep the competition, close all cars use a 17.5 Turn brushless motor with software restricted Speed controller to indicate blinky mode that prevents any sort of additional boost or turbo being used. This is paired with the latest 7.6V High voltage 2S Lipo batteries to squeeze every last drop of performance from the chassis that will have multiple chassis settings to maximise the grip of slick rubber tyres manufactured by Dunlop and Hankook and placed inside tyre warming blankets for instant grip as soon as the lights go out.
These cars have an exceptional ability to look very easy to driver in the best hands as they carve perfect lines on the racetrack but do not be fooled, they will be a constant challenge as you chase setup to beat your rivals.
Best suited for: Racers looking for close competition with as many tools at your disposal as their full-size counterparts to squeeze out performance.
1/10th Electric Touring Car Modified TC
This class shares everything with the 17.5 Blinky class with one very powerful change.
The motor and Speed controller is unlimited. This often means cars running 4.5t motors with all the boost and Turbo switched on to allow them to reach incredibly high-top speeds. At this point every part of the car will become a consumable in the quest for the top step of the podium.
Best suited for: Experienced racers only, this class is not for the faint hearted, you will need nerves of steel to operate these cars.
Rules: 10th Touring Car Rules and Modified Touring Car Rules

1/10th Electric Frontie Touring Car
Once again very much based on the touring car principles but this time front wheel drive only is allowed. Motors are restricted to 17.5 Fixed timed motors to keep the top speeds down and make the racing even closer. Be warned though as handling can be a little spicy when the grip level is low.
Best suited for: Experienced racers and those that want a slower and tad more realistic racing car compared to their 4-wheel drive counterparts.
Rules: Frontie TC Rules
1/10th Formula 1 21.5 turn racing
As the label says above. This class is for anyone wanting to emulate the real thing. The cars are scale replicas of F1 cars, with similar suspension setups and scale wheels with tyres to match. They race on rubber tyres and can use tyre blankets to give you the precision control required to get these cars to carve up the racetrack.
1/10th Electric GT Touring and Rally Class
One of the cheapest forms of motorsport in RC racing worldwide and an excellent introduction to competitive on-road racing. Once you’ve built your shaft driven Tamiya and run it round the car park. It’s time to hit the track and go racing.
Four-wheel drive chassis and real replica bodyshells to emulate your real-life racing heroes and historic motorsport moments.
With reliable electric motors and flexible plastic chassis they offer a very cost-effective way to get into RC racing, with lower running costs and more emphasis on providing a realistic fun driving experience. They are an excellent platform for developing not only your driving skills, but also the hands-on mechanical skills to teach you how to spanner an RC car.
Whether you're taking your first steps into racing or looking to race on a more economical budget you will find this one of the most rewarding classes in the sport.
Best suited for: New and experienced racers alike.
